True! In Maryland, college students are 4 times more likely to face hunger than other adults.
As hard as it may be to believe, college students tend to experience food insecurity at a much higher rate than the general public. In Maryland, 1 in 3 adults is food insecure, but our college students are 3 to 4 times more likely to not know where their next meal is coming from.
Thanks to your generous help through our Hunger Action Council, the Maryland Food Bank is able to support initiatives and programs that are addressing college hunger. Programs like the Corner of Care at Chesapeake College, which has been providing food and assistance to its students for the last decade.
We’re happy to support the Corner of Care—and many other pantries on campuses across the state. Your generosity helps make that happen. Remember, every $100 you give helps provide 100 meals for families, children, older neighbors … and college students!
Hunger Action Council members are the Maryland Food Bank’s most dedicated champions, with a minimum annual cumulative gift of $1,000. Thank you for all you do!
