On Friday, October 24, a record 400 volunteers from nearly 25 companies gathered at the Maryland Food Bank to pack Holiday Meal Kits for families across the state. The food bank’s annual Pack to Give Back event brings together corporate and community partners to help ensure more Maryland families can share a nourishing holiday meal together.
A government shutdown impacts federal programs, federal employees and people who work for federal contractors in different ways and at varying times. Federal employees may be furloughed or asked to work without pay, federal contractors may miss paychecks, and benefits programs may see disruptions due to a lack of funding or staffing. Just in time for the start of the holiday season, the Maryland Food Bank received a generous donation of fresh macaroni and cheese from partners at Land O’Lakes. The mac & cheese, which is pre-prepared and ready to eat, will be distributed through the food bank’s statewide network of nearly 800 community partners.
