President & CEO Meg Kimmel sets the vision for the Maryland Food Bank, guiding strategies and programs that feed food-insecure Marylanders while building pathways out of hunger.
Born in Baltimore, Meg has served in a broad range of capacities at the food bank since she joined in 2012, most recently helping to launch innovative approaches to build a stronger food system and help more people become food secure as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer.
Today, Meg is using her deep experience mentoring and growing teams to support the food bank’s people, programs, and products, catalyzing collaborative change that ensures neighbors in need have a meal today and a practical pathway to food security for the future.
When not at the office, you can find Meg hiking around her home state, doing Zumba, or traveling with her family.
Even with the challenges of increased prices (not only on food, but storage and transportation) plus the giovernment shutdown and uncertainty over benefits, you helped neighbors access more than 43 million meals in 2025!
The announcement of state funding for SNAP in November helps avert a catastrophic drop in food access for SNAP recipients, though many of our neighbors remain in crisis.
