Revving Up Support: Changemaker Yiannis Docouto

Wise beyond his years, high schooler Yiannis Docouto saw an opportunity match one of his passions (cars) with another (supporting his local community). The results? “Drive for Change,” a June 2025 fundraiser that raised nearly $15,000 for the Maryland Food Bank.

“Seeing the expressions of all the people who came out and how they felt after donating made me realize that bringing people together is one of the longer lasting and substantial effects of giving back.”

Changemaker, High School Car Enthusiast

Hosted at Clarksville Commons, and sponsored by a number of local businesses, Yiannis’ event attracted about 50 automotive enthusiasts whose McLarens, Ferraris, Minis, and other amazing vehicles provided a lively atmosphere where attendees could purchase coffee and t-shirts while checking out the cars.

Based on his experience through the first of what he hopes to be many fundraisers, Yiannis has some advice for others. “If someone knows they want to get involved but doesn’t know how, I would highly recommend thinking about what matters to them and how they could use that to bring people together. For me, cars and the car community are things I highly value, and I was able to use them in order to run a fundraiser.  end story icon
