On Wednesday, the food bank joined representatives from the Maryland Department of Aging, the US Department of Agriculture, and the Baltimore City Area Agencies on Aging at St. Mary’s Outreach Center to celebrate the launch of our newest program: CSFP Outreach.
The volunteers gathered at William Pinderhughes Elementary School were as diverse as the city of Baltimore itself. Community members of all ages, MFB volunteers, school leaders—and, at the heart of the event, the Baltimore Orioles entourage—joined together to distribute food to households in need.
Everyone appreciates the ability to simply “grab and go” during busy times—but most ready-to-eat snacks and meals are unhealthy: packed with preservatives, sodium and sugar. Our Healthy Snacks & Meals initiative will offer neighbors healthier, convenient choices.
You might be surprised to learn that food banks do so much more than provide food.
