Alongside expanding access to nutritious food, helping build pathways out of hunger for more Marylanders is the most consequential work we do at the Maryland Food Bank. We will continue to do both, until hunger ends…

Workforce Development Builds Pathways Out of Hunger

At the Maryland Food Bank, we’ve learned that fighting hunger is more than just about providing access to food. For many Marylanders, overcoming hunger is about eliminating one of the root causes of hunger by finding well-paying, long-term employment. And countless studies show the critical tie between income and food-insecurity.

But to get there, you need the right skills to meet the needs of an ever-changing work industry, and guess what—the Maryland Food Bank wants to help you get those skills through workforce development

And while we’re pretty proud of what graduates of FoodWorks—our highly successful culinary training program—have accomplished, we know that not everyone wants to work in the food industry.

That’s why we’ve built partnerships with a number of local organizations to offer training in industries ranging from healthcare and IT to green energy, manufacturing and more.

In fact, there are opportunities for people of all capabilities to learn a new skill, start a new career, and travel their own pathway out of hunger.

How Can You Help?

Our ability to expand access to nutritious food while providing solutions for those in need relies on continued partnerships and support from Marylanders like you.

Help support our efforts.
