In an effort to alleviate stress on food-insecure Marylanders around the holidays, we have been visiting partner agencies across the state to bring some much-needed holiday relief directly to those who need it most.
As the state’s largest charitable food distributor, the Maryland Food Bank is uniquely equipped to distribute large amounts of food from one place to another. We gratefully accept donations from grocery stores and retailers statewide, and most recently, we’ve received donations of historic proportions from Food Lion stores across the state.
On Friday, October 14, the Maryland Food Bank celebrated the accomplishments of 10 graduates who successfully completed our culinary training program, FoodWorks. The graduation was attended by friends, family, program partners, government officials and a James Beard Award-winning local chef.
The movement against hunger in Maryland has gained momentum over the last several years, and the Maryland Food Bank has been humbled by the compassion and commitment displayed by a diverse group of individual supporters, public representatives, leaders in the private sector, and community partners.
