The factors that lead to food insecurity in western Maryland are not always the same as they are in Baltimore city or on the Eastern Shore, so we’ve devised a regional approach to tailor programs that meet the needs of different communities more effectively.
The Maryland Food bank is excited to fulfill our goals of distributing more food and helping reduce food waste through the Middle Mile Program, which connects the hospitality industry to hungry Marylanders.
Why volunteer? While this might seem like a simple question, we’ve found that when we ask our volunteers about the reason they support our mission, there is a wide range of responses. Volunteer Georgina Thompson shares her reasons for giving her time to fight hunger at the Maryland Food Bank.
We congratulate the students of FoodWorks Class 33 as they have graduated from our 12-week culinary program — leaving with a ServSafe Manager certification, job-readiness skills, and the knowledge to thrive in the culinary world.
