It takes more than food to end hunger — this is our guiding philosophy as we take on our 40th anniversary and beyond. But food distribution will continue to be the foundation of the food bank until hunger ends in Maryland.
How do we distribute more than 102,000 meals a day?
This year marks more than just celebrating our past accomplishments of service. We want to focus on moving forward and fighting hunger with new approaches that will lead to sustainable change.
When the federal government shutdown in December, the Maryland Food Bank sprang into action to help feed some of the 172,000 affected federal workers that call our state home through our Pantry on the Go Program.
Although the shutdown may be suspended, Marylanders across the state are still feeling its lasting impact — including hundreds of thousands of seniors, families, and veterans who rely on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Advocacy is an important part of what the Maryland Food Bank does for the 665,420 Marylanders who don’t always know where their next meal will come from.
