Located in Salisbury, where about 20% of the city’s population of 33,000 is Haitian, Rebirth has been helping restore dignity and foster social integration through food, basic education, information, social services, communication, and outreach to neighbors in need since 2002.
Since 2020, Dawn Glover has been helping neighbors escape the stubborn grip of poverty through a holistic program that starts with food to help in the short term. Additional wraparound services like skill-building and job training, financial and social education, and counseling help people in her community stabilize and thrive in the long term.
Catherine’s Family & Youth Services has been offering neighbors in the Edgecombe community access to nutritious foods for years. Recently, the organization’s executive director Valarie Williams has been building pathways out of hunger by developing partnerships with local service providers that are helping locals address hunger’s root causes.

Our Workforce Development pilot program is helping create pathays out of hunger for more Marylanders. It offers people the chance to earn a living wage in growth industries such as IT, healthcare, and solar.
