On Friday, October 24, a record 400 volunteers from nearly 25 companies gathered at the Maryland Food Bank to pack Holiday Meal Kits for families across the state. The food bank’s annual Pack to Give Back event brings together corporate and community partners to help ensure more Maryland families can share a nourishing holiday meal together.
Just in time for the start of the holiday season, the Maryland Food Bank received a generous donation of fresh macaroni and cheese from partners at Land O’Lakes. The mac & cheese, which is pre-prepared and ready to eat, will be distributed through the food bank’s statewide network of nearly 800 community partners.
The Maryland Food Bank has received a $750,000 grant from Walmart and Feeding America to expand its food rescue operations across the state. The funding will help MFB and its community partners recover more fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable food from local grocers—aiming to provide 13 million meals annually. This grant is part of a larger $15.75 million national effort to strengthen food recovery and reduce waste.
Volunteers share all sorts of reasons why they choose to give their time to the Maryland Food Bank. Recently, team members from Cureate volunteered at the food bank’s Halethorpe headquarters to help the community, but found it helped them build community as well!
