Families experience food insecurity on military bases just like civilian families, but getting assistance can be a big challenge for them.
Every year kids across the state take part in our Kids Helping Kids initiative by pitching in to collect food and funds to help other kids who may be suffering from food insecurity. On Thursday, May 18, we celebrated this year’s top fundraisers.
On Thursday, May 11 the food bank honored three dedicated allies in the fight to end hunger at the Heroes Against Hunger awards ceremony.
Whether Maryland Food Bank volunteers are in school or retired, gleaning vegetables or sorting canned goods, we appreciate all of the work they do. In 2015, our volunteers contributed 34,000 hours of work to help the hungry across our state. In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, we are highlighting some of of our most dedicated volunteers from the last year.
